Media release: Kaizen general counsel Geno Luchmun joins EMpower Executives List

We’re incredibly proud that Geno Luchmun, our general counsel, has been named in The 2018 EMpower 100 Ethnic Minority Leaders List, presented by the FT. Throughout his legal career in financial services Geno has promoted an inclusive culture in his teams as well as diversity as a business strength. His inclusion in EMpower 100 is in recognition of his commitment and his outstanding work in encouraging ambition in those from BAME backgrounds.

The list is part of EMpower’s wider Ethnic Minority Role Models 2018 programme and highlights exceptional work being done to advance the career aspirations of BAME individuals across numerous business sectors across the UK and north America. EMpower is a professional membership organisation helping corporate members drive greater Ethnic Minority inclusion at all levels of their organisations. Founded in 2017, it provides powerful network connections, helping businesses create diverse and representative workplace environments where everyone can succeed. EMpower’s member firms include BP, Barclays, LinkedIn, Coca-Cola and Sainsbury’s.

Geno’s personal background makes him the ideal candidate for the acknowledgement, having acted as a long-term mentor to colleagues with a focus on their personal and professional development. At the same time, he has keenly supported minority candidates aspiring to advance their careers, helping to facilitate professional opportunities wherever possible.

Outside of work, Geno was a Community Governor for eight years at a Southwark school on a socially deprived housing estate with a population made up mainly of families from BAME backgrounds. He was also actively involved in Young Enterprise, a charity with the aim of helping young people understand the world of business, as well as volunteering at the Brixton Community Law Centre in providing probono legal advice to those in the local community without access to legal services.
