Winners of the Barclays RepoHack 2023!

RepoHack 2023

We are thrilled to announce that Kaizen and our colleagues at London Reporting House (LRH) have been crowned winners of the Barclays RepoHack 2023! Congratulations to Kaizen’s Samuel Jackson (pictured far left) and Joseph Awonusi (pictured far right), together with our LRH colleagues Aleksandr Mattal and Dr. Luke Johnson for their tremendous efforts.

The hackathon, hosted by Barclays Bank, ICMA, ISLA, ISDA, and FINOS was held in London. Organisations including Barclays, JP Morgan, CapGemini, Transcend, TradeHeader, and Lab 49 came together to compete against one another to streamline the post-trade processing of repo trades by integrating the repo Common Domain Model (CDM).

Participants were tasked with crafting a seamless trade execution process and interface, all while spotlighting post-trade innovations through CDM.

The team’s winning strategy came down to both innovation and efficiency. Aleksandr, Luke, Samuel and Joseph devised a system, harnessing CDM objects to facilitate the smooth transfer of transaction data between post-trade systems and SFTR reports. By utilising CDM’s consistent and digital trade representation, the team were able to sidestep redundant data reconciliation, thus accelerating the transition from trade execution to in-depth data analysis.

We are so proud of the efforts of our Hackathon team, what an achievement!
