SFTR phase 1 is now live and EU-incorporated and located banks and investment firms and others, have begun regulatory reporting of repos and securities lending. The data published by the ESMA licenced trade repositories confirm the markets are huge: in the first week 1.4 million transactions were reported with a cash value of 14 trillion euros & positions of 8 trillion euros.The market is multi-layered, international & much is centrally cleared.
