ESMA Data Portal Changes

Firms subject to MiFID and other regulatory reporting obligations should be aware that ESMA is migrating its current data register to a new portal.

These changes will be of particular interest and relevance to compliance and operations teams.

The existing portal will be removed from 1 April.  The migration impacts the following published data sets which will have a direct impact on validation to ensure compliance with regulatory reporting:

  • Published list of shares admitted to trading on regulated markets
  • List of exempted shares
  • Register of systematic internalisers
  • List of authorised regulated markets
  • List of authorised multilateral trading facilities (MTFs)
  • Central counterparties

To enable a smooth transition, ESMA is making the data register available on both portals for the rest of February and until the end of March.  As of 1 April 2016 the old portal will be shut down and not accessible.

Firms that have established automated access to these lists should refer to the updated web service procedure ESMA has published.

Developers responsible for the automated processes adopted in respect of the datasets should review the information detailed on ESMA’s website.
